Today saw me and the kids having to go and do the groceries I had no intention in it being a big shop, but I did still manage to spend. Oh how life has changed it use to be that the kids would be able to walk ahead of me maybe even go down the next isle but I found myself telling them to stay close and if I couldn't see them I wasn't happy. I couldn't go into a big place either found myself saying where should I go to do the shopping, I went with Brighton so that was good. Saw a few people I knew and you could see on their faces that any strange sound or movement had them on edge, I wonder how long this is going to go on for. Please bring back normality.
On the plus side I got my hoodie today which is lovely and warm and it is going to a good cause.
I am on call for work tonight but I really hope that I am not needed because my hubby has a meeting so trying to get a sitter on such short notice will be tough, mind you I know they wont ring me unless I am really needed.

I must look dodgy
So we have been really busy at my work for the last few days its appears that when there is a natural disaster everyone turns to alcohol, me and my work colleges have been working our arses off and it still appears that you still cant keep everyone happy. In the last few days I have been cuddled, abused, yelled at, talked to, you name it it has happened to me, anyway that is another whole story. Anyway last night saw our pub being inundated with cops but I'm cool with that because they are just doing their job, these cops were the ones that have come over from NSW to help our police, they have worked 12 hour days for a month and I think they said that out of that month they have had 2 days off, they are heading back to Aussie on 21st of March where they will be replaced with a whole lot of other cops from other territories in Aussie. Anyway their main focus is to stop drink driving which I am totally against I hate drunk drivers, they told me to tell the patrons that if they thought about drink driving they will be caught. They left and we carried on our way. Getting abused by people because we refused to serve their drunken arses anymore. At the end of the night the staff have a drink, we left about midnight now from my work to home is all of a minute drive. As I got into my car a cop car drove past and I knew exactly what was going to happen anyway I went on my way and within 50 meters I was pulled over. I was breath tested had my license checked and also the car rego checked so a drive that should have taken 1 minute was 15. I'm proud to day that I past with flying colours, this is the first test that I have past with flying colours. Anyway to the police I say keep up your great job, you truly awesome

Today saw us cleaning cleaning and cleaning in time to get my work up and running to be open for busniess tomorrow, we walked in and thought there is no way in hell we will be open for 2pm tomorrow, but with hard work and not much of a break, we did it I had to leave at 3pm to get the kids and headed back there at 5.30pm. We did it. The only problem now is that we need the food on the premises which means tomorrow there is going to be alot of prep happening.
it will be nice to see everyone and hear their stories, but also for them to have a blow out. We are very lucky to have our usual band their for a Thursday night so I think it is going to be a busy old day/night.

Generosity is unbelievable
Today I had the pleasure of going back to the kids school, and them seeing their friends, and seeing my friends and the teachers. There was a school from up north (Hastings) and they had organised a container full of food, blankets, pet food, for our school in total there was 400 packages delivered this is so unreal, that complete strangers and doing this for our community. There was a sausage sizzle as well so the kids had a great time seeing their friends although all they really wanted to do was to go into the playground and play but unfortunately this was not possible. They also enjoyed seeing the teachers. I must say a big thank you to a couple of the teachers who went into the classroom and got my daughters charger for her fm unit for her hearing aids and also getting her shoes which she had to leave in the classroom, and getting her school bag. For this thank you. I'm very proud to be part of Freeville Whanua.
The next thing on the list to do was to go and get some food scales so that I can do some baking. I also ended up getting one of the old phones that don't need electricity and I hope that I never have to use this but at least I have got it. I'm even more determined now to put together a Emergency Case (again I really hope that I never ever have to use this)
Tomorrow sees me going to work and cleaning, the bosses are hoping to open on Thursday so we will have our work cut out for this. Thank you to Kym in advance for looking after my kids so that I can do this.
Please take care everyone

Back to normal - ish
Today hubby has gone back to work for the first time since the Earthquake. So it's just me and the kids, (god help me), a girlfriend came over this morning for a couple of hours so that was good for the kids and our sanity, trying to entertain the kids and keep them busy is really quite hard, mind you we have got a few maths games on the computer to play and my son loves Lexia so that kept them quiet for 10 minutes, my daughters hearing aid got broken the day before the Earthquake, so I rung the appropriate people and it appears that we prob won't get it back but we are hoping to get a loan for her to use in the interim.
It appears that the appointment that I didn't think would happen next week in town is going to happen so I now have to take the kids and me into town, not sure if I am that happy with this but life has to get back to normal eventually.

Relax day
Well after the past 2 weeks today we are just having a very quiet day, we enjoyed catching up with our friends from the golf club yesterday it was nice to see a few of them but because it was such late notice we didn't get as many as we would have liked but the people that were here seem quite happy.
Today we are having a roast for tea, with my sister in law her partner and my neice, can't wait to see my neice as I haven't seen her in over a week.

Catch up with friends and a couple of drinks
Well my hubby and I decided that today we will have drinks with a few of our friends from the golf club it will be good to see everyone and just hear their stories about the last couple of weeks I think a couple of them still have no water so , we will say if anyone wants a hot shower they are more than welcome to use ours.
We went to where my hubbys new work is going to be it's literally on the otherside of town but hey I guess they were lucky to find somewhere. It use to be a 20 min trip to work something tells me its gonna be more like an hour now, now some people in Auckland might laugh at me but seriously this is Christchuch it should never take that long to get across town.
The people involved in getting our City back to normality are doing an amazing job, keep up the good work, stay safe

Home School
Today the kids went to their first day of Home Schooling, it called the Noosa homeschooling for wayward children, we have 3 teachers, a PR person (who is getting some awesome donations from different businesses) a cook tech, a kitchen hand and a dog sitter, guess who has got the job of dog sitting, it's been great for the kids to get into some sort of routine as I don't know when the school will be up and running but fingers are crossed that it will be soon.
My mum and dad got their power back today so its nice to have them a little bit closer to home, at least it's a little bit of normality, I feel bad as we have had power now for a few days and there are still friends out there who don't have anything.
I wish there was more that I could do, please take care out there
